Working in Japan

Hey I’m just wondering what it’s like working in Japan compared to other countries. The concern is that they even have a word for people that work them self to death and it’s a problem in Japan from what I have read as well as suicide.

So for anyone that worked in Japan before, I’m wondering how big of a problem it is now a days. Also why does it happen, is it the workers doing it to them self or the employers? Also on average how many hours a week do people work? And just any thing else about working in Japan.

Thanks

I have seen people getting stressed out due to work load, the Work planning is not so good in japan and even the workload is not properly distributed.
No one is interested in living life , its the nature of people to work work and work. No one enjoys life.
They are sometimes a bit irrogant and egoistic to which stops them from growing up.

In response to the previous message, your work experience in Japan depends entirely on where you’re actually working. Example: Playing rock music at a live house vs. working at an IT firm with lots of competition. There are type A personalities and people who work way too hard, to the point of suicide, in every country. My experience in Japan was nothing anywhere close to Pranay’s experience. Everyone was kind, I found work fast at an English school and a book store, and it was extremely pleasant. Compared to the western world, things might be a bit more pragmatic and stress-filled then you’re used to, but Japan is a global market and therefore should be given a grain of salt for having to match up against international competition. If you have any more questions about this, comment back!
Hope that helped any, but staying positive can do wonders for any work environment!
Best,
Christina
